Eavor Deploys Revolutionary New Active Magnetic Ranging System, Drastically Reducing Drilling Rig Time to Connect Lateral Wells

Eavor-LinkTM Marks a Major Milestone in the Path to Scalable Closed-Loop Geothermal

Calgary, Alberta, Canada — Eavor Technologies Inc. has successfully deployed the Eavor-Link™ Active Magnetic Ranging (AMR) system at its first-of-a-kind project in Geretsried, Germany. This breakthrough will significantly improve the efficiency and speed of closed-loop geothermal drilling.

“It’s an important milestone to have successfully used Eavor-Link™ AMR for both parallel drilling and final intersection phases, without the use of wireline at any stage. It’s a proud step forward in our mission to improve drilling performance and ultimately to enable geothermal anywhere,” said Eavor Chief Technology Officer, Matt Toews.

Traditionally, horizontal drilling requires a time-consuming process wherein a wire is fed several kilometers under the Earth to transmit information to the surface and ensure the correct location and alignment of the boreholes. Eavor-Link™ AMR uses magnetic ranging while drilling to maintain constant alignment as it drills two wells at approximately 100 meters apart before they are intersected to create a continuous geothermal loop, which is then sealed with Eavor’s proprietary Rock-Pipe™ formula. With real-time data transmission between downhole sensors, the technology ensures tighter borehole proximity, more accurate well placement, and more efficient loop construction — all of which are vital to the long-term scalability of Eavor’s closed-loop technology.

“Eavor-Link™ AMR represents a major technical advancement in directional drilling — not only for geothermal but for a variety of use cases,” said Eavor Drilling Manager, Steve Nowe. “By enabling real-time downhole communication and precision well placement, it directly supports the scalability and efficiency of closed-loop systems like the Eavor-Loop™.”

Eavor-Link™ AMR significantly reduces operational time compared with conventional wireline methods, transforming a process that used to take hours and days into one that can be completed in just minutes. Eavor-Link™ AMR minimizes downtime by processing most data downhole and transmitting only small amounts of information to the surface. This advancement allows for faster drilling, lower costs, and reduced risk.

“Eavor-Link™ AMR is a pivotal milestone in our technology roadmap, taking our vision for scalable closed-loop geothermal from concept to reality. This groundbreaking advancement in directional drilling dramatically reduces drilling time and lays the foundation for more cost-effective and efficient geothermal projects worldwide,” said Toews. “It’s a testament to the relentless innovation and collaboration that has been part of our journey toward transforming geothermal energy.”

The successful deployment of Eavor-Link™ AMR at Geretsried is the result of multi-year development and field testing efforts, in collaboration with Eavor Geretsried GmbH, Gunnar, Erdos Miller, and SLB.

About Eavor Technologies Inc.

Eavor (pronounced “Ever”) is a technology-based energy company led by a team dedicated to creating a clean, reliable, and affordable energy future on a global scale. Eavor’s solution (Eavor-Loop™) represents the world’s first truly scalable form of clean, dispatchable, baseload capable, and flexible heat and power. Eavor achieves this by mitigating or eliminating many of the issues that have traditionally hindered geothermal energy. Eavor instead circulates a benign working fluid that is completely isolated from the environment in a closed-loop, through a massive subsurface radiator. This radiator simply collects heat from the natural geothermal gradient of the Earth via conduction. Eavor has been supported by equity investments made by several leading global energy producers, investors, developers, and venture capital funds including Vickers Venture Partners, bp Ventures, Chubu Electric Power, BDC Capital, Temasek, BHP Ventures, OMV, the Canada Growth Fund, Kajima Corporation, and Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund.
