Google and ENGIE have just signed a series of new Corporate Power Purchase Agreements (cPPAs) to provide Google’s digital  infrastructure portfolio in Belgium with more than 118 MW of renewable power.

Google aims to achieve net-zero emissions and 24/7 carbon-free energy by 2030.
To this end, ENGIE and Google have signed 5 new cPPA agreements with ENGIE. These contracts include:

  • The entire production of four new-to-the-grid onshore wind farms developed by ENGIE in Belgium, representing a total capacity of 26 MW.
  • An eight-year extension of a cPPA for another 92 MW Belgian wind park already in operation.

ENGIE’s Leadership in PPA Market

These new contracts strengthen ENGIE’s position as a leader in the PPA market. In 2023, ENGIE sold 2.4 GW of green electricity to industry and large energy consumers, becoming the leading developer of renewable energy projects for businesses. Last year, ENGIE concluded 34 contracts across six markets, being the only developer to offer PPAs for solar, onshore wind, and offshore wind technologies. In Belgium, ENGIE plans to accelerate the development of renewable energies to reach 2.5 GW by 2030, and will also leverage its unmatched capabilities as a global mid-streamer to deliver low carbon energy to its clients.

Through this strategic partnership, Google and ENGIE are taking a further step towards a sustainable energy future, supporting the growth of renewable energy in Belgium and beyond.
