KMI has signed a term sheet with Red Cedar Gathering Company to transport and permanently sequester CO2 through KMI’s pipelines in the Permian Basin.
Red Cedar, a joint venture between Southern Ute Indian Tribe Growth Fund and KMI, will capture CO2 from two natural gas facilities in Southern Colorado, with a target of 400,000 metric tons per year.
Construction is ongoing for Kinetrex Energy’s $150 million RNG projects in Indiana, expected to be placed in service throughout 2023 and will add 3.5 Bcf of RNG production annually.
KMI has decided to convert one of the seven sites acquired from North American Natural Resources into an RNG facility, construction to begin in January 2023.
KMI is evaluating the potential for the remaining six sites to generate electricity and create e-RINs (contemplated in the latest EPA proposal) through biogas, which could provide earnings upside opportunities with minimal additional capital investment.

Navigator CO2’s Heartland Greenway project, one of the world’s largest carbon capture, utilization and storage projects, continues to receive broad support and make significant progress.
They will be filing a revised permit to expand the scope of the project and accelerate development of storage locations in central Illinois.
Navigator’s CEO states that there’s a growing number of industrial emitters recognizing the value of carbon capture technology and the Heartland Greenway will streamline the process for all parties.
