Voya Energy Launches to Develop Metal Fuels Technology, Accelerating Universal Energy Availability

Raises $13 Million Seed Round Led by Founding Investor, Energy Impact Partners

Hayward, CA November 12, 2025 – Voya Energy today announced its public launch and the close of a $13 million seed funding round led by founding investor Energy Impact Partners (EIP), with participation from Founders Fund, 8090 Industries, Overmatch, IQT, Trust Ventures, Seven Stars, Liquid 2 Ventures, SV Angel, Brian Janous, Sheldon Kimber, and Peter Reinhardt. The funding will accelerate Voya’s mission to develop a radical new energy delivery system, one that is untethered from the grid and powered by a superior new class of carbon-free fuels.

Voya is pioneering a transformative approach to energy generation based on metal fuels – a breakthrough class of abundant, energy-dense, and recyclable materials capable of storing and releasing immense amounts of energy cleanly, safely and affordably.

“Our abundant electric future demands a radical new energy delivery system, one that isn’t limited by traditional grid infrastructure,” said Richard Wang, Co-Founder and CEO of Voya Energy. “At Voya, we’re harnessing the inherent power of metals and creating a new category of clean and reliable power generation systems that can deliver energy anywhere on Earth with unparalleled speed and flexibility.”

Voya’s proprietary technology converts recycled metals into a powerful, safe, and durable fuel, enabling fast, flexible deployment of electricity without dependence on centralized grids or pipelines. This breakthrough opens new pathways for decarbonized, distributed energy, addressing global demand for clean and resilient power in industries and regions underserved by current systems.

“Voya represents an entirely new approach to distributed energy generation, with the potential to solve some of the world’s most critical challenges,” said Shayle Kann, Partner at Energy Impact Partners and Founding Investor at Voya. “We’re thrilled to back this exceptional team as they bring a suite of fundamentally new technologies to market.”

The company’s founders include Richard Wang – Chief Executive Officer, Matt Horton – Chief Commercial Officer, and Steven Kaye – Chief Technology Officer. The founding team has decades of combined experience as repeat founders and executives with several successful exits. In addition, the company brings together a world-class team of researchers and operators, backed by leading investors with deep experience in energy, technology, and national security.

Voya’s team and investors are united by a bold vision: to fuel an abundant electric future — one that is reliable, clean, and affordable.
