  • CNX Resources and ICE Thermal Harvesting are teaming up to create 100% clean, locally-sourced power for CNX operations using heat-to-power systems

  • The project at CNX’s West Virginia compressor station will generate half a megawatt of sustainable electricity and reduce CO2 emissions by up to 4,000 metric tons annually

  • The companies will also expand the project in phases, adding more systems to harvest heat during the compression process

  • This is all part of CNX’s “Appalachia First” vision to prioritize sustainable natural gas production, new technology, and community value

Ørsted Shines Bright: Building Texas’ Largest Solar PV Project

  • Orsted, a Danish company is building a 471 MW AC Mockingbird Solar Center in Texas.

  • The solar center will be the largest in Orsted’s portfolio, it will cover an area of 4,900 acres and will be able to generate enough renewable energy to power more than 80,000 homes annually

  • Construction of the project will start this month and is expected to be completed in 2024.

  • Some land adjacent to the solar center will be donated to The Nature Conservancy to protect native prairie in north-east Texas.

  • In 2021, Orsted signed a ten-year corporate power purchase agreement with Royal DSM, a global company focused on health and nutrition, who will be purchasing a share of the power from Mockingbird as part of their global journey towards a greenhouse gas reduction of 59% by 2030 compared to base year 2016.

  • Orsted has approximately 5.5 GW of onshore renewable energy capacity in operation or under construction across onshore wind, solar, and storage, 1.8 GW of which is solar PV.

  • Orsted is on track to reach a total of 17.5 GW onshore capacity globally by the end of 2030 and has an ambition of installing 50 GW of renewable energy by the end of 2030, including 30 GW offshore wind.

Camber Energy makes $750mm renewable diesel acquisition

Camber Energy to buy renewable diesel plant in Nevada

Oil and gas company Camber Energy Inc said on Monday it was buying a renewable diesel facility located near Reno, Nevada.

  • Camber Energy acquires New Rise Renewables Reno renewable diesel facility for $750mm near Reno, Nevada

  • Once operational, the plant’s production capacity is ~43 million gallons / year

  • Renewable diesel fuel, sometimes called green diesel, is a biofuel that is chemically the same as petroleum diesel fuel, and is produced through various thermochemical processes such as hydrotreating, gasification, and pyrolysis.

  • Renewable diesel is made from renewable feedstocks instead of crude oil, and is approx. 50%-55% less carbon-intensive than traditional petroleum diesel.

Quote of the week

The surprising key to a clean energy future

If you care about climate change, you should care about transmission.

https://www.gatesnotes.com/Energy/Transmission

Put simply: Transmission is key to our clean energy future. If we address the barriers standing in the way of that future, it will lead to lower emissions, cleaner air, more jobs, fewer blackouts, more energy and economic security, and healthier communities across the country.

Bill Gates (Gates Notes)

More transmission and pipelines. Let’s get them built.
